The adults-only ship had a celebration with celebrities including Thomas Grennan, Major Lazer and Diplo
Virgin Voyages launched its second cruise ship, named Valiant Lady, with an exciting celebration at London International Cruise Terminal in Tilbury, Essex on Friday.
This new ship is 278 meters long and can accommodate up to 2,770 passengers. She is very similar to the Scarlet Lady, the company’s first ship, and both follow the “adults-only” philosophy. The main difference between both cruises is their itineraries.
The cruise line — owned by billionaire entrepreneur Richard Branson — wants to disrupt the industry and is targeting a happy adult audience. For the late night groupVirgin Voyages collaborated with radio station Capitan, invited the talented English singer Thomas Grennan and organized a number of famous DJs to play live on board the Valiant Lady, including international artists such as Major Lazer and Diplo.
Speaking of the launch of Valiant Lady, Tom McAlpin, CEO of Virgin Voyages said: “It was incredible to launch Virgin Voyages last year so it’s a very special moment to have our second ship, Valiant Lady, less than a year later here in Britain to welcome the entire Virgin Voyages family. After two tough years, people are looking forward to rediscovering the world and it means a lot to us that we can help make that possible.”
Virgin Voyages management is optimistic about the future of the cruise line and confident that the Valiant Lady will be a success. As part of the promotion, the company also announced a new partnership with superstar Jennifer Lopezthe ship’s warden and will work on the experiences of design collaborations and entertainment co-creations as well as the feel-good philosophy.
After the celebrations, the Valiant Lady will soon travel to Belgium and then to Barcelona. The company recently canceled some sailing dates scheduled for April but is expected to continue its routes for the rest of the year, sailing through Italy, France and Spain.
Equipment and design of the Valiant Lady
The Valiant Lady has the traditional amenities of cruise ships, but differs in design and rules from other ships on the market. Just like the Scarlet Lady, it has stunning interiors, multiple dining options, and a unique boutique hotel vibe.
said Captain Marco Carsjens of Virgin Voyages for CNN: “Coming from more traditionally styled ships, Virgin Voyages is very different and quite outstanding in comparison from the outside to the inside.”
On board, travelers get free Wi-Fi, no need to dress up for dinner, receive sleek rock star suits, and special attention from the 1,150 crew members. The ship has 17 decks, a tattoo parlor, a boxing ring, a theater that turns into a dance floor, a guitar room, a huge hot tub on the pool deck, and drag queen brunch. As this is an adults only design, it does not include facilities for children.
A bumpy start with a promising future
Virgin Voyages launched its first ship, Scarlet Lady, just ahead of the pandemic in February 2020. Like the entire travel industry, it has been affected by the strict Covid restrictions and the fallout from COVID-19 over the past two years.
Just before the Valiant Lady launch celebration, the company cancelled Three itineraries – departing April 4, 15 and 18 – were previously planned for this ship. Affected passengers have been allowed to rebook and those who prefer a refund will receive it but already have it upset customers on social media.
However, the party was a success and the company remains very optimistic about the future of the cruise line. Virgin Voyages President Nirmal Saverimuttu told CNN, “There’s a lot of pent-up travel to do.”
The company expects a very busy summer. according to a Messages On its official website, Virgin Voyages has seen bookings increase by 174% in the last six months. The company also expects to launch a third ship, Resilient Lady, in 2023.
