The NCB’s SIT is asking the Sessions Court for an additional 90 days to file an indictment on the matter

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has asked for an additional 90 days to file an indictment in the drug case against Aryan Khan in which the star child was arrested in early October.

With the 180-day deadline for filing the indictment fast approaching, the agency made the request through a motion before the Special Court under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS).

On October 2 last year, the NCB raided the luxury cruise ship Cordelia. During the raid, Aryan Khan was among some youths arrested. The following day he was arrested along with seven, including his friend Arbaaz Merchant. In the coming days, the agency made up to 17 arrests, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to 20.

During the raid, the agency claimed it seized both drugs and cash. It booked the youths under the strict provisions of the NDPS Act relating to illegal trafficking and harboring of criminals and criminal conspiracy. Some youths, who the agency claimed were peddlers, were also arrested in subsequent arrests. The quantity of drugs found was then reported as a trade quantity based on the combined seizures.

After the Special Court refused bail, Aryan Khan and two others managed to obtain bail from the Bombay High Court. The Special Court then granted release to many other co-defendants. Only two of the 20 people arrested are currently in custody.
