(MONACO-) Silversea cruisesthe innovator in ultra-luxury cruising, has strengthened its industry-leading expedition team with the appointment of Bob Simpson as vice president of expedition product development. Simpson’s appointment as a highly regarded professional reinforces the cruise line’s leadership position amid strong demand from affluent travelers for ultra-luxurious expedition cruises.

reporting to Konrad Combrink, SVP of Expeditions, Destination and Itinerary Management, Simpson will be responsible for creating and overseeing the execution of the company’s expedition product delivery strategy. He will work closely with government officials and stakeholders to continue to develop and deliver innovative and unique expedition experiences, unlocked globally by Silversea’s five expedition ships exploring some of the world’s most remote regions, including both polar regions.

With an adventurous career spanning more than 30 years in the hospitality industry, Simpson has been involved in expedition cruising since 1998 and has tremendous experience designing and executing expeditions to the polar regions and other remote destinations. Simpson joins in Silversea cruisesafter serving as vice president of Expedition Cruising at Abercrombie & Kent, where he led the development and operations of the company’s expedition products for nearly 20 years.

In these roles, Simpson actively worked with a variety of stakeholders and was deeply involved in tourism management, environmental protection, safety and community engagement.
