The first-ever Discovery Yacht from Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours, the Scenic solar eclipsemade history with its latest voyage, as the first commercial operator to be permitted to go underwater with its six-guest submarine off the South Georgia Islands for the first time in forty years.
The Scenic Eclipse made the historic dive over the 20 days Antarctica, South Georgia and Falkland Islands Voyage departing from Ushuaia on January 27th. The dive boat for six people, the Scenic Neptunedove into the waters of Stromness, South Georgia and made history as the first dive in the region since the 1982 Falklands War.

The 1982 Falklands War was a ten-week undeclared war between the United Kingdom and Argentina over the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands. The war ended with Argentina’s surrender. The islands remain British Overseas Territories to this day.

We witnessed a diversity of marine life not found anywhere else in the world, including bioluminescent jellyfish, pelagic Antarctic krill and a wide variety of marine benthic fauna.”
