Southampton has a welcome distraction from their poor Premier League form when they face neighbors on Bournemouth’s south coast in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Saints have lost 10 of their last 12 league games but should still have too much quality for a Bournemouth team sitting outside of the play-off spots in the championship.

The visitors won 2-0 here in July and another away win at 19/20 is our first prediction for Bournemouth vs Southampton.

A look at Bournemouth betting odds

Bournemouth’s hopes for an immediate return to the Premier League have been pending after bad form since Christmas.

After the Cherries had only lost two league games by then, they have since suffered eight defeats and only six wins to effectively destroy their hopes for automatic promotion.

An impressive 3-0 win against Swansea on Tuesday night raised their hopes for a place in the top six, but we’re cautious about reading too much about it just three days after losing here to Barnsley.

Luton, Sheffield Wednesday and Cardiff have all picked up three points this year as well, so there are many concerns about a team now led by Jonathan Woodgate following Jason Tindall’s layoff last month.

Offensive talent is abundant in this roster, however, as evidenced by the 2-0 win at Burnley in the fifth round.

If you look at Bournemouth v Southampton odds, a win for the Saints and both teams to score seems worth the extra risk at 11/4.

A look at Southampton’s betting odds

Southampton will certainly be keen to get back to winning ways and start their international break with a high after being relegated to the Premier League table.

A promising first half of the season has fizzled out and there is a risk that they will still be drawn into the relegation battle if they do not stop soon.

Her best performances in recent months have been in the FA Cup, with a 1-0 home win over Arsenal in the fourth round, followed by a 2-0 win at Wolves.

Ralph Hasenhüttl is unlikely to make too many team changes at this stage of the competition, especially given the international break which means they won’t be back in action against Burnley until April 4th.

Sunday’s 2-1 home defeat to Brighton was a huge disappointment but they did quite well after a brilliant start to a 5-2 loss at Manchester City four days earlier.

Their first-half record is the sixth-best in the Premier League and they have scored 23 goals during that time, up from just 13 after the break.

The 45 first-half goals in their games this season are second only to Leeds (46) in the top division, so 21/10 for the highest-scoring first half complete our betting tips for Bournemouth v Southampton.
