The UK pet industry finally had the chance to celebrate in person today (Sunday) with the announcement of the 2021 PetQuip Awards as companies were recognized for excellence in a difficult time of lockdown restrictions.
The awards ceremonies, held after the first day of PATS Telford, were attended by numerous retailers and suppliers.
Presented by PetQuip Trade Association Manager Pat Flynn and PetQuip General Manager Amanda Sizer Barrett MBE, the event included 12 gold and 11 silver awards, as well as nine highly acclaimed awards and a special Lifetime Achievement Award for Craig Taylor, Chairman of Natures Menu.
Lifetime Achievement Award 2021 winner Craig Taylor
Two new categories – Innovations in Lockdown and Community Projects During a Crisis – were introduced this year to show how well pet businesses and individuals have fared in the face of adversity.
Also presented for the first time this year and sponsored by Group 55 was the Theresa Swann Trophy for Exporter of the Year, in memory of PetQuip’s former Head of Events & Administration, who sadly passed away in December 2019.
Closing the event, Amanda Sizer Barrett said, âThe joy so many people in the industry showed at our event were worth it. The association prides itself on recognizing the hard work, innovation and teamwork in our industry.
âIn addition to so many happy winners, it was really rewarding to see how everyone enjoyed the fruits of their work and the positive networking between suppliers and buyers during the evening. We’re already looking forward to our new style PetQuip Awards and Party in 2022 and are making plans to ensure this is a record year for the industry. ”
