Penticton Vees win again, cruise to 8-0 second leg win on home ice – Summerland Review

A goal was all Penticton Vees that were needed on Friday evening.

However, they scored an 8-0 win over the Merritt Centennials at the South Okanagan Events Center in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL).

Penticton (13-2-0-0) captain Fin Williams was rewarded with the game-winning goal early in the first period and the Vees never looked back from then on.

The Vees overtook Centennials 52-22 during the Penticton showdown, with the home side spending much of the second period on power play.

While not nearly as busy as his counterpart, Vees goalkeeper Kaeden Lane stopped everything in his way and posted his seventh BCHL shutout.

The Friday night game was originally scheduled for November 17th, but the game was postponed for nine days following the devastating flooding in the Merritt area. Along with the 2,500 Vees fans in attendance on Friday, the Merritt Jr. U13 Representative Team took up the action in a luxurious suite courtesy of the South Okanagan Events Center.

Other goalscorers on Friday included Casey McDonald, Brett Moravec, Josh Nadeau, Ethan Mann and Luc Wilson.

Penticton’s win over Merritt was the team’s fifth win in a row.

The Vees will aim for another win on Saturday evening November 27th when they take to the streets and visit the Vernon Vipers (4-8-3-2).

Saturday night Showdown marks the restart of the Vees road trip, which was put on hold due to the make-up home game against the Centennials on Friday.
