MSC Cruises has announced that its new line of super-luxury ships under the Explora Journeys brand will call at Malaga next year.

“I’m sure some of these ships will be calling at and leaving Malaga in the next year. The city will become a very strategic port for the shipping company with a large number of passengers,” said Fernando Pacheco, General Manager of MSC Cruises in Spain.

Meanwhile, this summer, the company’s MSC Orchestra will operate 12 sailings from Malaga with 10-day itineraries, starting June 30.

“It was a pleasure to base a ship in this port over the summer. It is not new to the company to hop on and off at these facilities. We did it with two ships last fall with very good results. And expectations will be met this summer. Sales are beginning to gain momentum. We are very satisfied,” said Pacheco.

“We are delighted to continue to demonstrate the tremendous commitment the company has made to bringing the ports of southern Spain closer to cruise ship passengers from around the world with this type of promotion. For example, Malaga is and will continue to be one of the destinations that we are happy to work with and collaborate with,” he added.

According to industry data, the average passenger spends €341 per day in Malaga when cruise ships dock.
