Mike Mitchell – Devon B&B owner and Braveheart star – died on a yacht in Turkey

A Devon B&B owner who held the coveted “Mr Universe” title and starred in the blockbusters Braveheart and Gladiator has died on his private yacht in Turkey.

After retiring from bodybuilding due to a heart condition, Mike Mitchell opened up with his wife at Paignton Beaches B&B.

Shortly after opening in 2014, Mike and Denise played on Four in a Bed, where they took second place.

Her episode re-aired this afternoon on Channel 4 and More 4, a few months after Mike died in Turkey.

Mike and Denise sold Beaches in 2018 to start a business in the Turkish tourist hotspot Feyithe.




They offered sailing holidays with skipper on board their private yacht around the Aegean Sea. Their boat was in the Ece Saray Marina, where Mike was found dead on July 23rd.

Doctors were called and he was pronounced dead at the scene, where it was later confirmed that he had suffered a heart attack. One day after his death, TMZ published a tribute from his representative.

It reads: “It was very hard to believe … the sudden death of an international actor that we managed, an honest person, a real actor, a real friend, my dear friend, made us deeply sad.

“I have always had the privilege of being your manager. I wish your wife, dear Denise Mitchell, and your children patience. Getting to know you and making friends is priceless. Sleep in the light. Rest in peace.”

According to LinkedIn, Denise still owns and operates her sailing business in Feyithe.

Their Four in a Bed episode 74 of 80 in the 2014 season.
