The Qatar Interior Ministry has recently announced another contract award to Turkey’s ARES shipyard for 3 (three) fast interceptors to be delivered in early 2023. Holding the titles of “Turkish Fastest Growing Company”, “Largest Ship Exporter” and “World’s Best Patrol Boat Builder”, ARES continues to support Qatar’s maritime security operations with the confidence gained by the successful delivery of the entire new generation patrol boat fleet to the Qatar Coast Guard with 31 (thirty-one) ships within the last six years.

ARES 40 FIC Fast Interceptor Craft with advanced composite hull and IACS class has a remarkable speed of 60 (sixty) knots to perform fast intercept, boarding and escort missions as well as anti-trafficking and anti-smuggling operations. With a range of over 250 nautical miles, ARES 40 FIC are capable of covering all exclusive economic zones around the Qatar Peninsula. The vehicle can carry remotely operated and auto-stabilized 12.7mm weapon stations, supported with roof-mounted electro-optical sensors.

The contract announcement was officially made by the Ministry of the Interior during the MILIPOL exhibition in Doha on May 25, 2022, where the ARES shipyard has been a permanent participant and exhibitor of the event for many years.
