EDITOR’S NOTE: The following is an email sent to the staff of Vice Commander Admiral Steven D. Poulin.
To our Coast Guard personnel,
On May 31, I had the honor and privilege of serving as the 33rd Vice Commander in Chief of the US Coast Guard. I am truly honored to serve all of you – active duty, reserves, civilians, auxiliaries and family members. You are the heart of our service.
First, I would like to thank our new Commander Adm. Congratulations to Linda Fagan. Your bold vision for the Coast Guard will transform our ministry and propel us to become the Coast Guard America needs in the future. I’m excited and energetic to be part of this incredible leadership team.
Rapid changes in the world and our communities create new challenges and opportunities for the Coast Guard and all of our staff. As leaders, we focus on the issues that improve the quality of life of employees. Our service is guided by our core values, history and shared sense of belonging to achieve Mission Excellence.
If you haven’t already, I strongly encourage you to read them Commander’s intention. Together we will demonstrate leadership and resilience at all levels, from our youngest members to our most experienced. We will fight threats from transnational criminal organizations, counter nation-states trying to reverse the international order, protect people and keep our waters safe, and protect our environment and economy.
Thank you for all you and your families are doing to protect our nation and serve our fellow citizens. I am proud to serve with you.
Semper Paratus!
Admiral Steve Poulin
Deputy Commander of the US Coast Guard
